In the village of Sogoya, Chad, years of living without electricity forced residents to rely on expensive, noisy, and polluting diesel generators. To solve this critical livelihood challenge, the Chadian electricity authority has implemented a 400kW/800kWh solar hybrid system designed to bring stable, clean, and sustainable power to every household. The system includes 725 solar panels (each 600W) and four 100kW/200kWh inverter cabinets, providing a total battery capacity of 800kWh. Built specifically for the harsh desert environment, the system features high-temperature resistance and sandstorm protection, ensuring reliable operation in extreme conditions. Operating entirely off-grid, the solar-plus-storage solution works independently without dependence on the national grid. A smart control system enables seamless switching with a backup diesel generator, guaranteeing uninterrupted power at all times. As a result, the people of Sogoya have moved away from costly and noisy diesel power to dependable, clean solar electricity—truly solving the village’s long-standing energy crisis and improving daily life for everyone.
