This project is located on an island farm, where the customer operates a coral farming business. Due to the remote island location, there is no grid electricity available, and the farm previously relied entirely on diesel generators for its power supply. However, the customer required reliable electricity 24 hours a day and wanted a more environmentally friendly energy solution.
To solve the challenges of unreliable and fuel-dependent power generation, TANFON designed a 230kW Hybrid ESS Solar System with 800kWh of battery storage. The system combines solar power, energy storage, and diesel generation to provide a stable and reliable electricity supply for the island farm.
The system is equipped with 384 pieces of 600W solar panels, providing approximately 230kW of solar capacity, together with a 100kW MPS inverter and an 800kWh ESS battery system. The large battery capacity allows the farm to store solar energy during the daytime and use it when solar power is unavailable, helping ensure continuous power throughout the day and night.
Considering the island’s harsh marine environment, the system was specially designed with corrosion-resistant protection to improve long-term reliability. The solar panels are installed using a helical pile mounting system, providing a strong and practical foundation that is well suited to the island environment.
With this hybrid solar and energy storage solution, the island farm can now achieve a 24-hour reliable power supply for its coral farming operations. Solar energy provides clean power during the day, while the large-capacity ESS stores excess energy and supplies power when needed. The diesel generator can remain as backup power when necessary.
The project significantly reduces the farm’s dependence on diesel fuel while making better use of the island’s abundant solar resources. More importantly, it provides the reliable electricity needed for continuous operation while helping reduce environmental impact and protect the surrounding marine ecosystem.
This project demonstrates how a properly designed Hybrid ESS solution can bring reliable, clean, and sustainable power to remote island farms and other off-grid applications, even in challenging environments where traditional grid electricity is unavailable.
